About
The Elizabeth Cross, established in 2009, is bestowed upon the next of kin of Armed Forces personnel who lost their lives during operations or due to acts of terrorism. This recognition serves as a national tribute to honour their profound sacrifice.
Who is eligible?
The award is available to the families of those who lost their lives in conflicts dating back to 1948, including the Korean War, the Malayan Emergency, the Falklands conflict, operations in Northern Ireland, and more recent missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.
How to apply
Applications for the Elizabeth Cross should be made online at:
In most cases, the Next of Kin are offered the opportunity for the presentation to be made privately and in an appropriate way, at the time of the funeral if they so wish. Such presentations may be made by the Lord-Lieutenant or a Deputy Lieutenant and contact should be made via email or the Contact Us form on this site.
