Dr Ivor Cairns

The current High Sheriff of County Down is Dr Ivor Cairns, who succeded Lt Col Peter Leckey VR.

The handover ceremony took place at Montalto House, Ballynahinch in January 2026, attended by The Lord-Lieutenant, Vice Lord-Lieutenant, former sheriffs and representatives from the High Sheriff’s Association NI.
