Sunday 19th May, a sunny afternoon saw the County Down Service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance for the UDR in Rathfriland organized by the Regimental Association
In March, Her Majesty The Queen arrived at Hillsborough Castle to be greeted by the Lord-Lieutenant. The following day she hosted, as Patron of the Queen’s Reading Room, an afternoon of wonderful Northern Irish Poetry on National Poetry Day. Here she is leaving the Castle with Claire Woods, Head Gardener of Hillsborough Castle.


Congratulations to the Greyabbey & District Community Association which has received the King’s Award for Voluntary Services. A tremendous day for the Volunteers as Sue Newell, the Chair, was presented with the crystal. Also present were the Mayor of Ards and North Down Borough Council and the Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet.
Cadet Sgt Francesca Hamilton has been selected as HM The Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet for the County of Down for 2024-2025. She was presented with her certificate at Hillsborough Castle in March 2024 by Vice Lord-Lieutenant Catherine Champion DL.

The Vice Lord-Lieutenant Catherine Champion DL welcomed The Princess Royal to Dromore in September 2023 when HRH visited to unveil the Chatty Bench for the town centre, a gift from Dromore Branch of The Royal British Legion to the local community and businesses.
