Garden Parties

Every year The King hosts annual Garden Parties, which have historical roots in being presentation parties attended by debutantes. Over time, they have evolved into events aimed at recognizing and rewarding individuals for their public service contributions.

These prestigious gatherings take place at Buckingham Palace, the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, and occasionally at Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland.

The Garden Parties provide an opportunity for distinguished guests to come together and celebrate the efforts of those who have made significant contributions to society.

Nominations for The King’s Garden Parties come from a well-established network of sponsors, such as Lord-Lieutenants, Charities, Government Departments (including the Northern Ireland Office), Local Government, the Services, the Church, and other Faiths. These sponsors invite guests with the aim of creating a diverse and representative cross-section of the community.

Please note that direct applications to Buckingham Palace for invitations are not accepted.
